So now california has banned it again. And there are riots in the street. I kinda figured that there would be riots either way, but it is interesting. There's a chance that the law might be declared unconstitutional (again) so they're working to press the point that gay people are people too.

I'm writing a persuasive speech for my speech class on repealing this law on the grounds that it does not grant gay couples the same legal status as homosexual couples

Calculators go to secret bins in landfills which collect broken electronics for use in heating an enormous furnace at the center of the earth.

Wait, ow, what? Gay not have same rights as homosexual... that doesn't make any sense, Timmy. You're right; I just reread what I wrote and I intended it to say "gays do not have the same rights as heterosexual couples." Sorry 'bout the confusion!

No worries At this point in my life, I hold the view that LGBT advocates are not morally reproachable (i.e. I do not see a problem in the lifestyle by itself.) What I do object to is the insistence that LGBT advocates immediately be granted entitlements for being gay. For the record, I am firmly opposed to amending the United States Constitution to solve this issue. However, if LGBT’s want the same benefits as married heterosexuals, they need to put this issue to the American people in the form of proposed legislation changes at the state-level. Not everyone will agree with these proposals, but that’s the way true democracies work; you need to accept the fact that not everyone will agree with you 100% of the time. It’s the difference between throwing a tantrum for a new car from your parents and illustrating why you deserve said car by level-headed reasoning and raising your own money through hard work. Right now, stammering out something to the effect of, “Well, [name of country] has these rights and I want them, too!” as evidence in support of these rights just comes across as petulant. There are no “free rides” in this country. I feel that LGBT advocates need to demonstrate clearly why LGBTs deserve the same rights as heterosexually married couples and the American people will consider the issue as presented. These are just my current opinions on the matter, and I will do nothing less than respect others for their views whether they agree with me or not on the matter.
