LOL. You guys r weird. I can see where Tim and DD are comin from, but still, you guys have weird ways of phrasing it. I actually liked episode 1. Not fond of its lack of tie-in, would have done better as a separate movie, but I actually liked 1.

Well, ep, one was required, because the films actually are meant to convey the journey of C3PO and R2D2 and not the foolish humans messing everything up. (why should the jedi's be so concerned anything with balancing the force? they had it pretty good) but as an actual movie, they just relied on Computerized Graphics thingies and Non-existant actors too much to wow the people and Lucas just forgot how to work a storyline. almost any good trilogy goes as thus: 1-establish characters 2-follow up and cliffhanger 3-Finish story from #2 and he didnt do any of that well. Ep1 put a most of the characters in, but put too much emphasis on the ones who would die in the episode or never come back anyway. We dont need to know much about watto and Jarjar luckily did not come back much. Qui-gon's (sp?) only purpose was to die anyway. these people are not that important. At least Obiwan was always part of the others after he died. and although the movie was well suited for the 8-12 demographic that would age to watch the next movies, it was now well designed for when these kids wanted to rewatch the series after they grew up. EP 2 was just bad. The killed Anakin's mom just to piss him off. how wrong is that? and the clones were cool with the swim-faster fin on top of their head but in battle they were kinda silly. There were huge battle cruisers waiting above the planet to hold the dropships. Why attack the sphere ships in a land battle? and what about the escape craft for dooku (why Dooku? that's just screaming to be made fun of. no whonder he went to the dark side) that could have easily been shot down. Instead they did a land based opperation against a highly mobile force to show off their new toys. As for the storyline for #2, it was uber choppy from all the cutting back and forth and ended up just being like a very long stand-alone episode of some TV show. it even had the classic "Badguy runs away to fight again scene" #3 Was the best of the three, except for the incredibly weak acting and the fact that all the other jedi's were total pushovers. i can understand the isolated ones going down, but the Jedi temple was their stronghold. It lasted for over 1,ooo years! it should have taken a much larger army to crush it. And why cant 5 jedis kill palpatine? he's an old man who spends most of his time finding names to go with Darth and looking for people who suit the name, since they seem to have a short life expectancy. instead he swats down most of them easily. Anakin was the worst for this series because after all this time he's still either acting like an awkward teenager or killing jedi-lits to save his wife, who only dies because he killed her too. and then he gets into a temper tantrum because he keeps doing stupid stuff. you'd think he'd be angry at palpatine for tricking him, but no~o he just keeps playing the submissive dog.
one personal problem was Kashyyk, which for all of the books was a forest where no-one touched the ground. then in the movie it's suddenly with grassland and water and such. -again with the needless ground battle!- that just bugs me --- Anyway, we there had to be the first three. starting a series with 4,5,6 and an ewok special just lets you know there's a 1,2,3, and a cartoon series to follow. He made them. he just didn't make them good.

I think Lucas spent more time caring about the new audience who are going to see these films than concentrating on the fans who have been around since the beginning

Jar-jar was unneccessary, and Darth Maul was just an expendable villian. At least they didn't spend too much time working on their backstory. "Meesa Clumbsy" was all they needed for jar-jar and they were kind enough to mostly keep it at that. I hate when they give a 20 minute expose on unimportant characters.

maul was awesome...what I don't understand is why did Sidious need so many darn apprentices?? he could have just used Maul through the third one and have anakin kill him in an epic battle to take 2nd place as Vader...no he had to keep adding characters cause there was no real story...just Kingdom of the Crystal Skull...swingin on vines with CG monkeys...for shame the beef...for shame...I trusted you Beef!!! and then you poo-pooed on it...you poo...you poopyman!!!!

First of all, he's one of the best looking Star Wars characters, but he lacks pretty much in every other department in terms of character and/or motivation. Secondly, the reason for Sidious' numerous apprentices was to show the evolution of evil until the appearance of Vader. We began with Darth Maul, a dangerous, yet brutish Sith before continuing with Tyranus. In the latter's case, his finesse and experience were not enough to stop the raw power of Anakin. Well, at least Crystal Skull gave us "Wonder Fridge" in the words of my sister ;D

I guess we should just consider ourselves lucky that George didn't turn American Graffiti into two sets of trilogies
