Can anyone tell me what this comic in the "All-Star" series is about, and if it's any better than the (IMO) over-hyped Miller/ Lee "Batman & Robin" comic? I'd love to get into the series if I had a general idea of what's been retooled for this version of the Man of Steel...

I'd love to get into the series if I had a general idea of what's been retooled for this version of the Man of Steel... I'll be happy to. All Star Superman is basically a retelling of pre-crisis Superman stories, only alot better. In the first issue,Lex Luthor tricks Superman into getting poisoned by unstable sun rays that are affecting his DNA.A doctor named Quentim helps Superman to discover that he may die soon, and that they are prepared to try and clone him. Lex,on the other hand, wants to kill Superman now more than ever, since He's realised that,to quote... "I'm growing older...And...And He isn't." At the end of the issue,Clark Kent reveals to Lois Lane that He's Superman, since he apparentally has limited time to live. Personally,I think it's vastly superior to All Star Batman and Robin. It's better written,by far.The art is iffy, but the writing makes it all worthwhile.I recommend it.

I hero you! ^^ I agree on the art; I never really liked Frank Quitely's work, but if the writing's great then that makes up for everything...
