I read DC Comics' list of 30 essential graphic novels, and I have to say that "Hush" is one of the worst stories I've ever read. Gratuitous and sexist shots of women abound in a story where The Riddler turns out to be the main villain. My main beef with the story is that it seems like WB mandated DC to jam the (then) upcoming story full of characters for new readers. What's your opinion about this series and why?

Hush is a good story, but it's really over-rated. I enjoyed the basic plot but, I agree, they crammed way too many characters into it. But then again Loeb did the same thing with TLH & DV. I don't think it deserves to be in the top 30, top 40 maybe, but definately not 30

I don't think it deserves to be in the top 30, top 40 maybe, but definately not 30 I never even thought about The Long Halloween or Dark Victory And I'm not saying that it's an absolutely atrocious story either. I like your idea of it being in the top 40 rather than 30. To me, DC's decision to place it amongst their "best of the best" books seems more like an attempt to make that storyline appear greater than it really is.

They don't really need to promote Hush anyways. Jim Lee is atrociously popular. I think it'll sell well just because he's attached regardless of any mention by DC or whoever.

I'm getting really sick of seeing ghost-drawn or reproduced versions of his artwork on everything. I feel that he was a great transitional artist to the 21st century, but we need to find new styles... Adam Kubert, to me, looks to be the next "big thing" in terms of art.
