I think this section is the right place for this thread. Anyway, I thought it would be a good idea to start a discussion about the recent cancellation of Teen Titans after S5, pretty bleak outlook for a Season 4 of JLU(or season 6 of JL, take your pick), and renewal of The Batman, and how they affect each other. Personally, I think it is a big mistake for WB not to continue TT and JLU, as both are great shows, imo, and also quite popular. I'm glad that The Batman was renewed, although I do think it's a little unfair that Justice League Unlimited and Teen Titans, which are, purely in my opinion, better shows in terms of character development and storylines than The Batman(especially JLU), get cancelled, while TB continues. Anyway, please discuss the recent news regarding each of these shows' fates. NOTE: The last thing I want to do is start an argument on how good these shows are compared to each other- I was just stating my opinion on matters. I hope no one takes offense to that, and if so, I apologize.

^ To me, the cancellation of JLU is like a "death-sentence" to the Bruce Timm style/ universe of Batman and Batman related characters...For almost 13 years we have had a Bruce Timm Batman cartoon on-air Saturday mornings (and in the case of B:TAS) prime-time as well. I can understand that the executives want to earn a living ( I'll save that for a different thread...), but they didn't need to cancel the only output [JLU] that Bruce Timm Batman fans have left... And then there's TT: I wasn't a huge fan of the show, (I'm not a huge anime fan to put it lightly), but I still got a good chuckle, larf, or guffaw when I watched the show. IMO, this is a very cowardly attempt by the execs at WB to say that "The Batman is the #1 Batman show/ Batman-related show on television!"; well OF COURSE it would be if it was the only one on the air! By canceling the only other two current Batman cartoons, the executives behind WB have only succeeded in having me (this is my opinion) tolerate the show even less than before...

I categorize DC cartoons into different groups- I think of JLU as a mature DC cartoon- just like B:TAS was, it is very adult and sophisticated, while I think of The Batman as one for the kids. Not that there's anything wrong with having something like that around, but I feel that by canceling the only mature one left, and renewing the new-fangled kid-oriented one, WB might cause the kid-oriented style of The Batman to become the norm, whereas the mature style has been the norm for, as you said, Demon's Head, nearly 13 years, and IMO, it should remain the norm. As I see it, right now many, many fans see The Batman as a break from traditional DC animation, which, like I said, has been the more sophisticated Timm style- whether or not they tolerate this is for another topic- but with JLU's imminent cancellation, I fear we won't see any more from this style, and may see much more from The Batman's style, which would make it the norm, thus reigning in an era of kid-oriented DC animation. I've tolerated (and liked at some points) The Batman up until now, because it has not been what DC cartoons are- it has been an excursion, an experiment of sorts- but if this style of DC cartoon were to become the norm, I don't think I'd be able to continue being so agreeable about it- because, in my mind, this style should be an excursion, a break from the Timm style- it should not be the standard for all DC cartoons to live up to and emulate- that is what WB seems to want to make it, and, IMO, that is B:TAS' place, not The Batman's. A 13-year reign of Timm-style animation is not nearly long enough- WB, please stop trying to replace B:TAS!

^ Well worded Hush! A "hero" for you! That was exactly what I was thinking regarding "The Batman"; the show [The Batman] should not become the new standard to which all other shows are judged...

Now, bear in mind, I do not hate all aspects of The Batman; I thought that the character designs for Alfred and Comm. Gordon were fantastic, but two secondary character designs will/ should not make up for an entire television show...

I don't hate it either, per se...when it started I was excited, it's just that over time, I've been more and more disappointed with quite a few aspects of it, and it's gradually grating more and more on my nerves, unfortunately, and frankly, this news doesn't help that at all.

Exactly, a hero for both of you. i think that The Batman as a more kid oriented show should not be the standard. JLU should have been, it was more mature, had complicated storyarcs, etc. But with season 4 i believe The Batman shall become more mature

Ya if they made The Batman more like 'Batman vs. Dracula' it would be alot better. Its such a cool movie. Joker rolling around in blood was pretty cool IMO. ;D
