I can honestly say that I had no idea that "Swamp Thing" still existed as a regular monthly series... You'd think that it would have been forgotten by now due to it's technically-unknown status within the pop-culture community...
Is anyone here a "Swamp Thing" fan? I know that I like to reference the character's name whenever a joke occurs involving the Florida Everglades... ;D

Well, I found some the series as a book in the dunap library and until I read it I had thought that the swamp thing was just an almost mindless plant/human caused by a chemical mistake common to that part of the century (like most superheros and villians). Instead we find that the swamp thing was really just a plant trying to be a human. remembring is past by eating the dead body of the professor.
The Issue that stood out to me was where another mad scientist - I have returned the book and forgotten his name - had found the secret of plant life by eating the fruit of the swamp thing (apperantly you can find out what the body was thinking by eating it) and was going to cause the entire world to produce enough oxegon to kill off all non plant life. The justice league could do nothing to stop him. This disturbance caused the Swamp Thing wake up and he ended up telling the planet that the world needs animals to produce carbon dioxide. The world ends up taking the power away from the mad scientist and there is a happy ending.
