Thanks to DC's Black Mask, I was able to read the highly-hyped Green Lantern series "Rebirth" which moved Hal Jordan from the position of the Spectre to that of Green Lantern again. Now, I consider myself to be an open-minded Batman fan (hey, I can give props for certain areas of even a movie like Batman Forever) but I could not stand Geoff's portrayl of the Caped Crusader or the Emerald Knight in the aforementioned miniseries. To me, his characterizations boiled down to...
Hal Jordan= holier-than-thou hero Batman= disgusting evil villain
If you want to know what I mean, simply view how Hal is portrayed in the mini-series; there's virtually nobody in the DCU who doesn't have a good thing to say about the character... This, coming from the same guy who slaughtered the Guardians and attempted to take over the universe...
Simply put, this version of the classic Green Lantern can do no wrong because he's perfect and is there any appeal in following the exploits of a perfect character? Nope. The only way that "perfect" characters work is when they suffer from insecurity following the loss of friends (remember Ozymandias from "The Watchmen"?)...
To me, Geoff's writing comes off as dull, simple, and unimaginative...
What do you believe and why?
