Here are a few of mine from various texts regarding the American Civil War...
"If we do not make common cause to save the good old ship of the Union on this voyage, nobody will have a chance to pilot her on another voyage."- Abraham Lincoln, speech, February 15, 1861 from War and Conflict Quotations
"Typically, however, the lessons of the American Civil War went largely unheeded by the armies of Europe--they would soon be forced to learn the hard way." - from Sniper

here are some of mine from various places
"They saught it with thimbles, they saught it with care, they saught it with forks and hope, they threatened it's life with a railway share, they charmed it with smiles and soap" -from Lewis Carol's 'The Hunting Of The Snark'
" 'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe, All mimsy where the borogroves, And the momeraths outgrabe.
Beware the Jabberwock my son, The jaws that bite, the claws that catch. Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun The Frumious Bandersnatch.
He took his vorpal sword in hand, Long time the manxome foe he thought, So rested he by the Tumtum tree, And stood awhile in thought.
And as in uffish thought he stood, The Jabberwock with eyes of flame, Came whiffling through the Tulgey wood, And burbled as it came.
One, Two, One Two, And through, And through, The vorpal blade went snicker-snack! He left it dead and with it's head he went galumping back.
'And hast thou slain the Jabberwock? come to my arms, my beamish boy! Oh, frabjous day! Callooh, Callay!' He chortled in his joy.
'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe, All mimsy where the borogroves, And the momeraths outgrabe."
- Jabberwocky by Lewis Carol

"A 'classic' is a book that everyone talks about but nobody reads" ;D

WOOT! ~,~ Yay M.T.!
IDK if bumper stickers count as literary, but here's some I've found that are hilarious:
-I may be slow but I'm in front of you. -Vegetarian: Indian Word For Bad Hunter -Meandering to my own drummer -I is illiterate and I vote -I'm not speeding I'm qualifying -(on a goshen high school sticker) I'm a parant of a honors studant.

"With the greater part of rich people, the chief enjoyment of riches consists in the parade of riches, which in their eye is never so complete as when they appear to possess those decisive marks of opulence which nobody can posses but themselves." Adam Smith, The Wealth of Nations
