I read on the wikipedia page for WB's Superman: Doomsday direct-to-DVD feature about how Steel, Superboy, The Eradicator and Cyborg Superman wouldn't be featured in the story... I'm frustrated because, to me, the heart of the story lay in the suspense of figuring out who would take over the mantel of the Man of Steel, and by not featuring any of these characters, the story will sorely lack no matter how many months went into it...

I just finished Roger Stern's The Death and Life of Superman novel. If they adapted the movie from the novel, it'd be quite epic (though you'd definitely have to explain a lot of the backstory. Lex posing as his own Australian son. Supergirl/Matrix being from another dimension and how she hooked up with Lex II. The Cadmus lab characters and their history. Superman's previous encounters with Henshaw, Eradicator, and Mongul, etc.). In the end, I can see why they'd cut or change some of the characters, but I'm curious how they're going to resurrect Superman without the Eradicator.

Well, I thought I saw something like the Eradicator in the trailer for Doomsday, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it...
