Another friend and I have set up a forum called Brother-Eye. (This is not to replace my activity at Detective Comments, of course, I still love it here) There, I agreed to review "Batman" every month and I thought I might as well link over my reviews here and have some discussion on this monthly title, starting with #682, part one of a story called "Last Rites" which essentially tries to squeeze a recap of Batman's entire career within two issues. Find out how Morrison pulled it off at: www.brother-eye.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=21

I haven't read it yet, but I would like to ask a general question about Morrison's current run on the Caped Crusader. Has he lost all new ideas that the only thing left is to take pre-"Crisis" topics and retroactively change continuity by including these elements in new issues? Is DC Comics going to have another "Zero Hour" or "Crisis on Infinite Earths" and restart every hero's origins?

I think they are definitely setting up another restart, judging from the upcoming Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader? The title of that comes from Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow? which was Alan Moore's final send-off to the Silver Age Superman before he was rebooted in Byrne's Man of Steel.
As for Morrison: To be quite honest? I...don't...know.

Wait-a-minute; I think I have the Superman TPB of that comic (courtesy of Christmas '06 ) in my collection... I'll dig it out to see what type of a story we should expect from Mr. Morrison... I would like to make it clear that I love Morrison's reboot of JLA from the late '90's in which he found a way to make past threats plausible and dangerous. When thinking of his well written rewrites, I recall the "Shaggy Man," not to mention Amazo and Starro the Conqueror; all of these characters were some what lackluster prior to their '90's reinventions. However, after so many retreads of older pre-"Crisis" comic elements ("rainbow costumes," in "Batman R.I.P." anyone?) I'm getting tired of these tired nods to diehard fans like us.
