It's all about the Ninja episodes. Ninjas are the best.

My vote goes to I Am The Night. Not only does it have an awesome title, but the plot is very good.
It is one my favorite episodes and strikes a personal chord for me. It really shows how human Bruce Wayne really is and that he's not always just a bad@$$ vigilante. Kevin Conroy's voice acting is at its finest in this episode, especially when he's contemplating about what might happen if he failed to save Dick, Alfred, or Leslie. You can really feel the pain in his voice.
And it's got a really sweet ending. Sweet meaning two things: a) Cool b) Touching The way the whole "stopping the Jazzman from killing Gordon" was coordinated....it was awesome. Batman throwing the batarang, it hitting its target right when Bullock burst through the door. That was so cool.
And touching in this rather rare heart-to-heart conversation with Gordon. GORDON: The bust...went down okay? BATMAN: Yes. Get some rest now. GORDON: Gotta keep fighting. Never stop. What I try to live by. Maybe I had been younger I could have been like you. Always wanted to be a hero. BATMAN: You are a hero, Jim. I'd watch the episode over and over again just to hear this conversation. It gets me almost teary eyed every time on just how emotional and touching it is.

^ Yeah, those two are great!
I love the part in the second one when Robin drags Zucco while riding a motorcycle. Talk about bad@$$ Boy Wonder.

It gets me almost teary eyed every time on just how emotional and touching it is. ^ I just watched that episode for the first time this past week, and I have to say that it is now my all-time favorite episode of the series. When Bruce contemplates losing Robin "in the line of duty" it comes eerily close to wards "life", i.e., the events of the Batman books set in continuity. Toss in the fairly-recent events surrounding Leslie Tompkins and this episode hits close to home (the comics)...I loved the bit about Batman becoming a cliche when the camera pans around a shop selling Batman goods; it makes him wonder if he's doing anything worthwhile beyond selling action figures and t-shirts....A great episode that proved that you don't need non-stop action and a main villain to tell a story.
