I was coming home from my aunt's house yesterday and on the news was a short snippet about a teenager who hopped a fence into the restricted area of the Batman roller coaster at a Six Flags theme park and was killed (from what, I can't remember... ? High voltage ? ) Anyone else catch this on the news?

He was decapitated. www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25431893/While it is shocking and sad for someone that young to die so horribly, the restricted areas are, well, restricted for a reason.

Good God, that's an awful way to go; I wish the kid could have found another way to solve his problem

like buying another hat? well, at least he wont need one now. I really cant feel too bad, Like Mr. Napier said, there's a reason why here were two fences to hop over and all those restricted signs. If the signs say danger, and there are plenty, then it might be a wee bit dangerous. He shouldn't have worn the hat on the ride anyway. There are places to put all of your stuff.

That's why you bring a somewhat older member of the family who is terrified of roller coasters; instant living hat-rack!

heck, even if your life depends upon wearing hats on rollercoasters, you can always put it on your wrist or something.
I can see parents now... "Dont wear your hat on the rollercoaster, timmy, or it'll fall off and you'll lose your head"

Hell, if you're going to have a hat on a coaster, tuck it into a harness and/or hold onto it for dear life... Life is not worth losing over a lucky hat.

well the current news is that the kid was just trying to get to the other side of the roller coaster. Was it still to get his hat, or have the circumstances changed following the investigation?

From what i understand it was just to avoid going around the whole ride to ride again.
