... due to excessive levels of lead paint. This is just unbelievable; just because it's cheaper to manufacture in China doesn't mean that it's safer. I guess it's too much to ask of major corporations to keep Real American Heroes and Dark Knights of Gotham City within the US where they originated.

:DI'm sorry, but i have to laugh at this. Killer Toys! Beware for Polly Pocket will give you peritonitis! Batman is covored in toxic paint! Oh the horror as Bigbird is deadly! That's what we get when china known for its Fantastic safety record makes toys to ship here.At least the CEO had the honor to commit suicide. I wish our CEOs were that responsible. anyway, for those concerned they can go to www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20265195/ to find the full list.

Yes, but in reality, this is a huge funk-up on Mattel's part, so I can understand where the pressure was coming from. Thanks for posting the list! Karma for you ;D

Is the joke dark? Yes, but in reality, this is a huge CENSORSHIP!-up on Mattel's part, so I can understand where the pressure was coming from. who said i was joking? In good ol' America CEOs who allow the death of children laugh it off and try not to get sued. I find respect for those who actually try to make ammends, but the CEO who decided to end his life after learning of his shame at least had some honor and deserves a little respect as well.

Well, I can understand that perspective, but I viewed his suicide in the light of him not wanting to face the consequences of his company's action. To me, that's the cowardly way out, and that goes to anyone contemplating suicide, whether they're business executives or not.

hm... didn't see it that way. So the question is was he doing it to pay for his crime or run away? Honor for payment or dishonor for cowardliness?

To be honest, I think it was cowardliness; he would be facing massive court losses from a class-action suit, as well as spend time in a non-"Paris Hilton" type jail.

Not really. Curruption in China has the death penalty and the CEO takes the punishment because he runs the company. Either way he was going to die.

it is ironic, isn't it? The currupt have the worst punishment for curruption. but remember, punishment is for being caught, not for the crime itself.
