Does anyone else here like independent music, and if so, do you have any recommendations of great bands, songs or albums?

I love "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)" on DDR ;D Thanks for the recommendation! I'd recommend "Velouria" by The Pixies... I found it on iTunes and loved it

Is there a law which requires indie bands to have hilarious names? I love indie music, but "there's a fine line between clever and stupid."

Well Emperor Norton's Stationary Marching Band is a play on the fact that all of Emperor Norton I ruler of the United States Protector of Mexico and Canada's reign was rather stationary plus they are a neo-victorian marching band that participates in things such as folly day in prospect park.

Thank goodness that band had any sort of logic behind their name; makes a hell of a lot more sense than simply putting words in a stovepipe hat and drawing them out.
